Hey,My new ipod touch that I got from my Birthday has a small crack on the screen. No more than 2mm, I was wondering if Apple's warranty covers that? I don't know where it came from as I have never dropped it. Any tips or answers? Thanks so much.

Yes, Take it to an apple store and they will most likely swap it out for you.

Cracked screens are not covered by warranty, just like any other form of cosmetic damage - this is the case with all Apple products, including the iPod touch. Some people have gotten lucky and gotten replacements for free, but it still is not covered by warranty.

Apple won't cover that. Instead of paying $199 for it to be fixed, I'd save that and buy the next generation in September.

Are you saying that the crack has there when the iPod was still in the box. It was shipped broken? That is one thing and Apple should exchange the iPod.

But if you used it a while and then the crack appears you can't expect Apple to take it back because the damage was done while the iPod was in being used by you.

But there is no way Apple could know which is the case now. I think it depends on how long you have had this. A day or 6 months? You don't say. If it has only been a very short time take it back.

Most likely no. If the screen is cracked, it is cheaper to buy a new one. If they can fix it, it is expensive to do it.
