Ok, here's my dilemma.

I've had my iPad Pro ever since it launched, got it first day. I definitely enjoy it... but I'm kind of reluctant to fix it. It will cost 600 bucks to fix.

But, with the rumor of a bezel-less iPad coming in the future... makes me wonder should I just sell the iPad Pro with it being cracked. I've had offers for about 300-350 on Craigslist, it's usable.

I just wanted to get some input on how others will handle my situation. Also, has anyone got their 12.9" iPad Pro screen fixed? Can you share your experience...

That's the going rate according to Apple website.

$599 - out of warranty cost

Holy cow! If you've got offers to sell it off, I'd sell. Then if you wait until March the price of the current model will decrease and there will be a new model too. You could go for whichever depending on your budget. However, next go around Applecare is highly recommended.

If you own an iPad Pro, always get AppleCare+ for it. The out-of-warranty costs are absurd.

@Ludatyk I'm not sure if this exists, but perhaps look for a third-party shop to repair it. I would say anything $200 or less is probably still worthwhile.

Ouch! That's pretty insane!

My wife just complained that her 12.9" iPad Pro has a small crack in the screen -- but in her case, it's actually two small places it has "chips" in the glass near the corners. Upon closer inspection, we realized it was caused by a Logitech keyboard case she's using with it. If you don't close it just right, it puts pressure on the glass screen in those two corners.

No way it's worth the money to repair, especially since it all works fine and you don't immediately notice the damage. But it sounds like someone needs to start offering cheaper repairs for this model.

$600 is absolutely ludicrous for a device that isn't even worth $600 dollars. Not sure which model you have, but I see 128gb wifi/LTE models sitting on my local craigslist brand new for $600-$700 dollars, and they still barely sell. Seriously, just buy another one just like it on Craigslist, Swappa, or Ebay for the $600 you'd send Apple. Plus you can sell your current one for $300 or so and come out much better in the end.

Agreed. Purchasing a new one would likely just be as a logical of an idea versus repairing something for that amount.

Thanks for you all input... I was leaning on selling it. Not really looking forward to repairing it.

I was in your position a few days ago.... in a dream. I actually dreamed that my 12.9 Pro cracked it's screen. That got me thinking about how I would handle that situation if it actually occurred.

IMO, if you could get $350 on CL for it, I'd take it... NOW. You've had a little more than a year's use out of it and gained experience of using it and how it fits into your life. Considering that the resale value of 12.9 Pros have tanked, $350 for a 1+ year old Pro with a cracked screen sounds like a really good deal.

I would then wait to see what gets announced in a few months. At that point, make the choice between what is available at that time... whether it be a 12.9 Pro 2, or 10.5 Pro, or whatever.

Yea I'm in same boat. My Air 2 screen is destroyed. It'll cost $299 to fix. That's what I paid for the thing brand new. It sucks because the iPad is only 35 days old.

If you go to Apple they do not replace the screen they give you a replacement unit because the glass screen is glued to the chassis watch the iFixit video any iPad the glass screen is glued to the chassis from the inside so you will be replacing an entire unit I had done that on my iPad4 it dropped off a box and I went to get it repaired and they said we only replace it luckily I had Apple Care so I had to do was pay a small deductible if you don't have that I'm not sure about prices

Yeah, I had contacted a rep from Apple. Had a Genius Bar Appointment to replace the iPad Pro for this upcoming Tuesday. But I had posted on Craigslist with the idea if I didn't get any offers for it... I'll just fix it.

Luckily, someone contacted me... offered me a $400 Apple Gift Card. I went ahead and accepted the offer! Now I can cancel the Genius Bar Appointment.

We'll I was in the same boat trying to figure out an option for repair of my ipad pro 12.9, my local apple stores only option was too the $600 that insane! I spent nights searching for options I even watched some youtube videos on the whole soldering process and was almost about to order a soldering kit off amazon to attempt the repair on my own, but I chickened out. I mean cmon I paid alot of money for this ipad for me to jack it up! Lucky I found these guys online iMaster Repair they fixed my screen for only $255 and its working great and was still a cheaper option them buying a replacement screen with the part already soldered on. I did have to ship it to them but they did pay for my shipping both ways so that was a plus.
