I've recently cracked my White Macbook from 2008 and i was wondering if i can view my cracked screen from another screen if used the VGA cable? Before i throw this thing out i want to backup a few other files i didn't backup, i was wondering if that option would work.

Thanks.

If you have an external display, you can easily use Mini-DVI to VGA or DVI adapter an have the MacBook's display either mirrored or extended on the external display.

System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> Mirror Displays (but know, that the display with the lowest resolution determines the maximum resolution used on both, thus one display will have a lower than native resolution, except when both displays have the same native resolution)

Mini DVI
Mini DVI is a digital common interface on the later G4 12" PowerBook, on Intel iMacs till 2009 and on the white and black pre-Unibody MacBooks and on Intel Mac minis before they changed the design to Unibody.

Mini DVI adapters can be bought online from:

but if my screen is cracked and is nearly impossible to see anything, there is no way i am going to be able to change the settings or will it automatically appear on the external screen without settings being changed?
