Unfortunately I have a cracked screen that I'm taking in to get repaired this evening at the Apple Store.

The impact of the drop was near the ear piece on the white part of the front glass (I have the silver model).

My question is: is the color on the front of the device actually part of the glass that will be replaced? It looks like the cracked chipped some of the color off and I'm worried that won't be fixed with the new piece of glass.

they will replace the whole display assembly. not just the glass.
so yes, youll get a new paint. hence why its an expensive job.

Actually I think they're replace the whole phone until they have the ability to replace the screen in the store.

iPhone 6 Plus smashed

Sadly I dropped my 6 plus in airport security and the glass has shattered (screen below is intact). I have Apple Care +, but I'm concerned that in-store screen repairs are not yet available for the plus, or they will not have any stock to offer me a replacement device.

Has anyone else had this happen to them yet? Any input would be greatly appreciated guys.

The website says it's a service they offer in store. I didn't call to confirm, but I've had my appointment since the weekend.

I guess I'll let you know in a few hours.

Went in for my appointment and they ended up just swapping out the entire phone. I asked the person who was helping me if this was standard practice, or if it was because the phones were so new. He told me that they would usually take it in the back and replace the screen, but due to parts not being in yet and procedures not being mapped out they have just been swapping out the entire handset.

What did you have to pay to have it replaced? Did you have Applecare+?
I just dropped mine and have a single hairline crack. I have an appointment on monday to get it fixed. Will they just replace the phone?

I went in today and got it replaced no questions asked.

I was at apple today and saw a few people with cracked screens.

They replaced the entire phone. No screens available.

That is good that you were able to just get a replacement device this time. I imagine it will take a while for Apple to get any replacement parts in stock.
