So I cracked my screen on my X, I'm getting my new X delivered to me today. I do not use iCloud really or ever plug my phone into a computer. I have my contacts selected on my iCloud options and Photos>>On. I want to be able to sign in on the new phone and have EVERYTHING the same as I have on my phone now. What do I need to do exactly? Do I need to backup or export photos to my laptop? I want my message threads to not get erased..I have 50GB available to me on iCloud storage and over 10k photos on my phone I want transferred / available to me.

If you have iCloud back-up turned on and everything is backed up to your cloud, you should be able to get everything back as it was. So on your new phone, select restore from icloud back up and it'll give you the recent one.

I have a 50GB option and it says its not big enough. I simply am so confused by iCloud and I hate the idea of having information "out there". Can't I just plug it into my macbook, backup via itunes, erase my phone or whatever, and sync the new phone to the backup that I just made on iTunes?

Yes, you can also connect to your itunes, make a back up and then restore from back on when you connect your new iphone to your itunes. You may want to do it as an "Encrypted Back-up".

Okay this is what I did I think back in December from my iphone 6 to the X. I will start using Google Drive and I just upgraded my iCloud to 200GB since I've used about 70gb of my 256 so far..iCloud selections just seem so confusing to me
