The trackpad on my MBP started to crack under normal use (I never dropped anything on it or dropped the MBP itself). I had this MBP for less than a year, so it's still under warranty. Should I bring it in to get it fixed? Because I hear that sometimes people's MacBooks come back with even more scratches and whatnot after they brought it in for repair. The crack is purely aesthetic --- the crack is underneath the glass, and the trackpad works fine. Any input would be appreciated.

I would definitely take it to get it replaced while you're still under warranty. Why wait? That trackpad is glass, it is very likely to continue to crack. Also, just because it still works fine right now doesn't mean that it will continue to work. Take it in and get it looked at, what have you got to lose?

Be sure to book in before you go to avoid disappointment or lengthy delays.

Trackpad Replacement

Howdy!
I know this is a REALLY late response to this message, but i was wondering how things went for you when you brought it to them? Mine just did the EXACT same thing while i was scrolling down on a page, no dropping or pounding on it, it simply just cracked. Ive read online that theres a screw under it that cracks the underpart of the trackpad every now and then. I was just wondering what process you had to go through! Ive had my MAcbook Pro for less than a year.

Thanks Gig' Em & God Bless.
