Guys just noticed my Apple Watch 7 GPS + Cellular is cracked in the back, see attached picture, but there is no change in functionality and even things like heart rate and EKG are working just fine. Is this even worth repairing, can it even be repaired by Apple or 3rd party? Thanks

I assume you do not have AC+? and no Apple won't "repair", they'd give you a refurb, but without AC+ I believe they charge $299 in the US. As for 3rd party, no idea ...

"just noticed" - the back glass is sapphire, so your watch must have taken a good fall on tile/rock or whatever ...

Unfortunately the repair cost would be the same if not more than a comparable refurbished watch. If you’re not in a hurry, new models will be released next month, and prices will go down on 7’s and 8’s.

There’s a clear point of impact along the 6 o’clock line, midway between the center and edge. This is not a random “just happened”; rather, it’s a case of the watch being dropped or hit while not on your wrist.

Further, there’s missing pieces of glass. Which means sharp edges pressed against your wrist — very bad, very dangerous. Do not wear this watch again.

And, oh-by-the-way, the watch isn’t even remotely, vaguely water-resistant. It’s only a matter of time (and not much at that) before moisture corrodes something inside, possibly even doing something nasty to the battery. Possibly, even, a fire hazard.

Please put this watch in a sealed Ziploc bag and hand-deliver it post-haste to — in order of preference — an Apple Store; an Apple Authorized Service Provider (including Best Buy and many others); or somewhere equipped to accept e-waste (every municipality has one).

If you have ongoing (paid monthly) AppleCare+, the Apple Store or the AASP can discuss the charge to “repair.” (You’ll actually exchange it for a refurbished watch of the same model.) If you don’t, the only option is to pay out of pocket for a replacement (or do without).

Again:

Do not wear this watch.

Do not charge it.

Hand-deliver it ASAP to somewhere equipped to accept e-waste.

Do not ship it.

Do not mail it.

Do not throw it in the trash.

Cheers,

b&

And to add on, my Apple Watch Series 7 user,
Once you get the trade in or recycling credit for your broken Apple Watch, find a deal on an Apple Watch Ultra, S9 or S8. Depending on how often you drop your Apple Watch, get a case as well. Make sure to use a proper charging dock that is slip resistant, good cable management and preferably, wireless. Throw any broken bands out as well; if you do not hear the snap as you slide it into the Watch a few times, it is not secure.

Please power the shattered back Apple Watch Series 7 off, and place it in a thick ziploc bag. It is unsafe to wear it as the damage is too much to be worn regularly, and your wrist will suffer scratches if the shards come loose. Water resistance is now compromised as well.
