I know from reading on here the edges cracking off macbooks was a common issue (mine's from Nov 2007) - I was just wondering if anyone had managed to get it repaired for free outside of warranty? I was considering getting a new macbook in August but if I can get the edges repaired I might go for a new iPhone or iPad instead. Thanks! :)

I got my 2007 macbook used and it is cracking around the edges. If I take it to the Apple Store will they fix it for free?

As everyone else stated, yes, they will replace it for free. This is a known issue with the polycarbonate Macbooks because of their magnetic lids.

They've recently* started to replace the monitor bezel as well as the keyboard top plate. The last change Apple did for me was both parts. The replacement looks to be made from a softer plastic, which should hopefully last longer.

*Well last year, which is recent(ish)

More MacBook cracking issues

I had my top case replaced under REP/ warranty for that, but now I have new cracks but this time its along the display! Does that also include the bezel around the display around the bumpers?
