Hey all. So this might be a niche issue because I know not TONS of people have this setup like me.

I have been filming videos for my youtube channel with my iPhone since the iPhone X, and XS. I use the Apple USB 3 camera to lightning adapter to plugin an external USB microphone for audio. The adapter has a lightning port for power, and usb female for the external device. It is a camera adapter but apple states that you can use it for any usb device, audio interfaces, midi keyboards, mice, keyboards, etc. and a lot of people use it for DACs and audio interfaces for microphones. It has worked fine always except with my new iPhone 11 Pro. There are consistent pops and crackles in the sound when recording video with external mic/adapter. This doesn’t happen with my older XS, doesn’t happen on iPhone SE or my iPad mini 5.

I looked at some 1 star reviews for this adapter just to look for people with similar issues and they were all cases of people having crackles and pops when NOT using external power plugged into the adapter. And when they plugged in power it stopped crackle. So that leads me to believe it’s a power draw issue.

I of course always use the adapter with power plugged into it. I tried 5w charger, 10w charger, 18W faster charger, even my MacBook Pro 67w charger with USB C/lightning cable, to no avail. So im pretty sure iPhone 11 pro requires more power or something? And the adapter itself is not outputting enough no matter how beefy my power adapter going into the dongle is.

I guess apple needs to issue a firmware update for the dongle like they did a few months ago, or come out with a new one. I dont know what can be done. I was just curious if anyone else has this issue or just spread awareness
