Cracks in plastic , exchange for another 2.2 phone??

Hi, I am getting very frustrated that every time I look at my iphone 3G to use it I see cracks in the plastic. My question is that if I were to go Apple and return it for a new one,if I would get a phone with 2.2? I don't want 2.2.1 because I want to be able to unlock my iphone later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it will depend on the stock. your chances are short....2.2.1 firmware has been around us for a couple of month I think.

They have to update it with the latest firmware. So if you want your phone unlocked, better just deal with it.
