Crank up the volume in iTunes?

I was wondering if anyone knew of how or if there were any hacks to make the volume go above 100 percent in iTunes. In players like VLC, you can go above this level, which is often necessary since I'll soon only have my MacBook's built in speakers for audio output (groan!). But I want to make due and use my iTunes instead of having to play songs in VLC.

go to the equalizer, there is a preamp on the far left and gives a nice boost but at the cost of sound quality.

you could go to valume adjustment under get info for each song.
