CRAP! All Address Book contacts deleted!!

i was in Address Book, when it froze up - I force-quit it, and when I restarted it, all my contacts were gone!! Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get them back?? I have no backup of them!!

edit: ok, I just tried making a new contact in my empty address book, and when I went to Finder, I got a popup about how syncing with my computer will change 152 contacts (ie. all my old contacts), and whether I wanted to allow it to continue syncing - I said no. Does this mean my old contacts are on my computer somewhere?

edit 2: Address Book is now really unstable on my computer. It is crashing like every 5 minutes....

edit 3: ok, well if i have to re-enter all the contacts, is there at least a way to get Mail to rescan my in/outboxes for previous recipients so that I don't need to remember everyone's emails?

Is there anything listed in your Application Support folder for Address Book?

well I don't know what I did, but somehow all my contacts were restored, and Address Book is no longer flipping out and crashing every 2 seconds

Address Book disaster - Maiden in distress in England

Haeaelp (isn't that what Penelope Pitstop says) ... any way. Guys in my office trying to bring me into the 21stC, get me a MacBook Pro and then iCal - make me switch from entourage to ue the mac mail, then address book. I go with it, spend this whole week in the evenings updating my personal (old fashioned, safe, hand-written type) onto address book, click all my emails addresses in, add all the birthdays from my manual calendar - thinking WOW... I will be so on top of everything. Got in last night and went to check my mail and there were only 4 records left in my address book. They were not to be found.
My technical chap looked but couldn't find. He has imported my old All.vcf records but they are massively out of date. Only alternative is to retype about 20 hours worth of stuff back in. And, I really don't want too. And I am terrified that if I do, it will happen again. What ever 'it' is.
Can anyone help me.? And baby talk me through. I am not that techno-savvy so excellet hand-holding skills necessary.
