Crash in imovie

Imovie is getting to me- I have this one transition that cannot be deleted- It is a ripple transition. I repaired my permissions, restarted the computer, delted the plist. I cant think of anything else to do.I need to delete this transition and it crashes imovie every time.

Would it be possible to split the video at both ends (you may lose a tiny bit of video) and then delete out the chunk in the middle?

anything else i can do? this is really bugging me and i cant finish my movie without it.
