crashing new mac.

I have a new mac pro. I am trying to edit some basic video in imovie. i am up to date wiht all updates. I have repaired all permissions.
Imovie "has unexpectedly quit"
It is happening all the time.
My windows machines do not crash even close to this much.
Please help.

Could be a corrupt preference file. I'd had that issue. Go to /youruser/library/preferences

and trash the iMovie pref file. Then launch iMovie again. That's one possibility.
