Hi,
I Didn’t really use my car that much since iOS 16 came out, but lately I’ve been driving by around for 30 minutes each day and I noticed that my iPhone 13pro got crazy hot after the ride and the battery just got floored within the next two or three hours, while the phone was just laying on a desk!
At first I was just shocked cause I never saw this device at 10% before lunch, but then it happened again in the evening after my ride back home, and again the day after that and today again.
It’s like somehow after the CarPlay ride, something keeps sucking the battery empty like crazy- maps is also being shown as the mainly used app in the battery section.

I didn’t really use my phone at all after all those rides, and it behagest normally if I’m not using the car at all.

Anyone else noticing this? I’m on 16.1.

Any ideas what I can do?

Have you looked at setting - battery to see what app? is using the battery?
Yes as I said, it said maps.. but strangely only like 10 minutes of background App activity.. but it drained half the battery in that time how it seems.
This is from today. Not as good of an example like a few days ago but still- look at the sharp drop and how it says that maps was on for two minutes total during that time.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Even on 16.3. The phone heats up like crazy and battery drainsreally fast. This morning I lost 7% on a 15 minutes drive. I didnt use the GPS only Youtube music.

Did you find any fix?

Hi, I actually got directed from a post I made about CarPlay drain, and seems to be similar to Sirku55, I'm using YouTube music and seem to be seeing massive drain on CarPlay. Drove for 20 minutes with 10-20% gone. When I use low power mode it seems to work okay, I didn't have this issue in previous versions of iOS 16 on my 14 Pro Max, only started noticing it on 16.2.
