I have three external hard drive, all USB 2.0, and decided to build a small ventilated box to put them in and just hook them up with a 15ft USB cable. So I build the box, a USB powered exhaust fan, etc. And when I hook it up its like 5x faster than when I had it connected directly to the computer! Im totally dumbfounded and Im pretty good with computers, Ive been building them for 10 years.

Any ideas? Maybe the original cables were too short? I know wireless signals can get muddled if the Tx point is too close to the Rx point. Maybe something along those lines? All I know is I transferred 9.78GB in 4 minutes, which is about 1/3 the time is was taking.
