Crazy screen jumbling!

I have no idea what happened, but all the sudden my screen started throwing weird shapes and colors at me - like it was all jumbled and messed up. it went back to normal after i'd switch spaces, but then would start up again. it did it about 10 times. i shut it down and restarted and so far so good. but i don't want it to happen again.

i have a macbook pro c2d 2.16 running leopard.

any ideas what this is all about?

hmm.. i feel like i remember seeing this when leopard just came out. if my memory serves correct it was a graphics card..

but i cant remember totally
