I have been trying to create an iCloud email address but when I get as far as inserting a name before the @icloud.com, what ever name I invent, i get a message telling me "That name is already in use". Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Try putting some numbers after whatever name you choose Ex. Terry.365@

Hello Arcs I have already tried that and whatever combination I use, it doesn't work. Someone suggested logging out of iCloud and back in but that made no difference either.

Send an email to an iCloud address that you are pretty sure doesn’t exist. When you get the bounce back you will know for sure it doesn’t exist. Then test creating that email. You will then know whether it’s a problem with the account creation, or you picking existing email addresses That already exist.

I can't send an iCloud email because I can't create an iCloud address to start with. I have tried sending one using my Macmail but it just stays in the Outbox.

I mean just send an email to kickthecat759.jolly@icloud.com from any email address.

You need to eliminate the variable that you continue to try to create an iCloud address that already exists.

Done that and it bounced back as undelivered, so how does that help?
That means that you know you have an issue on the device that you’re trying to create the account. So try other devices, or restore the device.
