Hi. Which format should I export an iMovie '09 project that will be viewed on a Windows computer (running XP)? I was thinking .avi but just want to be on the safe side.

Windows XP can play back .mp4 files just fine with Windows Movie Player or QuickTime or VLC Player. No need for the old AVI container.

Just export it as iPhone compatible or Apple TV compatible video and you should be fine.

If you go to "Share" --> "Export Movie" and choose the resolution it will be perfectly playable on Windows XP.
