I need to write few simple manuals for few gadgets.

I'm looking for Mac app which helps to write manuals.

Howdy. It depends on how much complexity you need. Will you need images, text boxes, etc.? Will you need captions that must stay with the image? Will you need automatic numbering for captions, chapters, images, etc.?

For just text, yes, TextEdit will work. For better control consider Nisus Writer Pro or Mellel. Each has its own strengths. Both are superb word processors (best on the Mac).

For better image control and automatic numbering with captions, consider Papyrus, excellent value for $99. I composed a 234 page book with photos. Superb handling, never crashed, etc. If you need even better control, then you would need to consider InDesign, but that is much bigger bucks.

Thanks for answers.

It needs to have about 20 pictures with multiple captions that must stay with the image.

No automatic numbering for captions needed.

Chapters maybe.
