I am helping a friends son with a junk bin pc he salvaged. We know it works it had vista running on an old drive and also boots a usb drive with Ubuntu on it. So with all this I wanted to create a windows 7 boot usb so we can install windows 7 or 10 on an ssd I got him on the pc. The usb drive is not recognizable as bootable. It is a Kingston 16 gig. Used a program called etcher. Usb is exfat. I did the same on my end with a 32 gig usb formatted same way and windows boot usb created the same way. Neither pcs recognize the usb as bootable. Have adjusted boot order in bios with no change. What am I doing wrong here? Tried with a windows 7 installer I got online as well as a windows 10 iso direct from Microsoft, neither worked. Anyone have any ideas?
