Created my "Launcher" stack but icons are missing...

Following a tip from Macworld I created a "launcher" stack in my dock which I'm using to launch my infrequently used apps. I've created aliases for all the apps in a folder called launcher in myuser -> documents folder. It works really well but for some reason out of the 15 apps I've got stored there only 4 of them will display icons.

What am I doing wrong here?

are the icons there in the folder? I know when i install a new application to my applications folder i dont get the icon initially but it appears eventually (can takes weeks sometimes) Maybe they will come over time? Have you tried rebooting?

They're in the folder but no - haven't rebooted yet. I'll give that a shot and report back.

Restarted - all icons present and correct!
