I am looking for a simple feature that I am suprised to have not seen in either iPhoto 6 or other packages like Fotomagico. I have 900 or so pictures from a 3 week trip that I want to turn into a dozen or so slideshows on DVD. The pictures are all in a 4x3 aspect ratio. I'd like to create seperate shows for 4x3 and 16x9 televisions. For the 16x9 shows, I'd like the software to automatically zoom all shots by 1.33 to fit the widescreen, align the top edges of the photo and display, and apply a vertical pan from top to bottom. This way, I can use the full widescreen and show the entire photo.
Then when previewing the show, I could change an individual slide to animate bottom up instead, or discard the bottom or top and apply some other pan animation.
I see all of the powerful effects that can be used, but I don't want to spend 40 hours building slideshows. I'm looking to start with something quick and good.
Perhaps there is an Automator action for iPhoto that would apply the ken burns effect to do such a thing?
I am using the Automatic Ken Burns effect in iPhoto 6, and setting the format to widescreen which is mostly good. However the panning is somewhat random and on many shots it never pans fully before moving to the next slide. This leaves quite a few shots where the screen starts at someone's feet and pans up to their neck, then transitioning before we ever see their face.
I can manually adjust the 5-10% of the photos that need it, but was looking for a simpler starting point that would guarentee to show the entire photo over the pan of each slide.
