I've really put myself in the corner with this one and I'm looking for the best option to fix the issue.
My startup disk is corrupt, disk utility cannot repair the disk, and now the OSX partition will not boot. Bootcamp Win7 boots fine, so does the recovery partition (I assume this is what is booting with CMD+R).
Admittedly I have not created a backup of this disk. I ordered an external HDD knowing the disk is going, but the disk failed prior to it arriving - ****.
So now I'm trying to figure out how to get my data backed up. At the moment I'm booted into windows moving the most important files over, however it wont cover everything - installed programs etc.
So my question - is there a way to manually move applications over to an external drive for restoration later? OR is it possible to create a backup of the disk without being able to boot into OSX? Does the apple store have some magic that they can perform do what I'm looking for?
Hardware info
Macbook ro 2011
OSX 10.8
Bootcamp Win7
Thanks
