I run Mountain Lion on a late 2009 iMac.

In November I had been noticing my safari browsing was sluggish and also it began to crash a lot. I ran ClamX and Sophos and found nothing. I use long secure passwords on everything but reset them anyway. I also tried one of those Whoisonmywifi apps when it was sluggish as well as speed tests and no issues there. So I just reset my whole system with Time Machine back to a clean install.

I generally take a screenshot whenever I add a new app or install an update. Prior to my issues last November, there were a number of things that might have been suspect as to contributing to the problems, including:

Oct 16 - Office 2011 - update 14.4.5
oct 18 - iTunes 12.0.1
Nov 2 -Scansnap Receipt install
Nov 6 - Sophos
Nov 11 - Adobe Reader
Nov 12 - Adobe Digital Editions
Nov 13 - update of Office 2011 (is see via time machine that a lot of Office program files show an update on that day, but I don't have any note of an update being installed.)
Nov 16 - Silverlight (probably for Netflix)
Nov 16 - Anki

Anyway, the first Safari Crash I have noted was on the 16th. So my biggest suspect was Anki or Silverlight. But it is possible it crashed one or two times prior to that before I thought I'd keep note of it, I can't remember.

Since I reset my system to a clean install, the only thing I installed was Office 2011 last night (and its Service Pack 3 update). I have been browsing with Safari with no issues all until this morning when it crashed. I sent the report to apple after it prompted, and kept a copy of it. I haven't browsed enough since to see if this is going to an ongoing thing. But naturally, I now suspect that Office may have something to do with my problems.

So here's my real question. I set up a second User (I opted not to give it administrator privileges, but its only me that will use it) and I notice that Office 2011 is not made available to that User-- lets call it User TWO. That answered one question I had. But does this necessarily prevent any Office 2011 issues from affecting User TWO?

I was thinking about setting up User TWO anyway to test drive Anki on it, in hopes that if there were issues with Anki, it wouldn't have any bearing on "USER ONE". But this crash gives me reason now to try it as is without Office, but I'm not sure if that is really how it works. I mean would this be a valid way to test it, or do multiple USERs still get affected by installs to the administrator User though they may not have access to the programs? I hope you get what I am trying to say.
