So, I have to copy some DL DVD's, but I don't have any DL DVD-R's to spare, so I'd like to just make image files of the DVD's and back them up onto my harddrive.

How can I do that? What's a good program, preferably a free program.

If they are data DVDs, use Disk Utility - it comes with Mac OS X, and can be found in your Utilities folder. Choose Make Image from Device... after selecting the DVD drive. If they're movie DVDs, use MacTheRipper.

Well I'm copying my FCS2 discs to my external, that's where I backup all my programs just incase I lose the discs.

Will that program work fine?
