Creating Lion USB boot drive with new Macbook Air

I currently have a MBP, and planning to get the new MBA soon.

I'm aware that you can create a Lion USB boot drive using the Lion download from the Mac app store, but can you create that same Lion USB boot drive using the new Macbook Air, and use it to install Lion on the MBP? Or do I still need to purchase Lion for my MBP?

Per my understanding you would need the copy from the App Store, because you need the .dmg file that gets downloaded to burn as an image. I am pretty sure that file does not exist on the new Mac's with Lion. So, your best bet is to buy it off the App Store on your MBP and then burn the image, which then can be used on either machine.
