I've bought the HS-400 Headset from Creative.
The earphones work perfectly, but the microphone is dead. :(
What to do? Does it even work on Macs?

I've searched google, and I've found several places where it states that it should work on Macs.

Is it just broken, or is there something I can do to fix this problem?

Any help would be great. :)

Line in microphones won't work on new-ish (portable) macs without an amplifier, sadly. That is one thing that is very irritating about my PB. Even my ancient dell laptop had a powered microphone-in plug. I guess Apple engineers get a kick out of developing an almost perfert computer and then seemingly deliberately messing up one feature...

To "fix" it, you might want to get something like iMic (from griffintechnology), which you'd plug into a USB port.

It is an immensely annoying problem, especially for Skype/etc use. The best option is to get a USB headset (Creative, Labtec, Plantronics and many others make readily afforable ones) and forget about going analog.
