credit card for apple online store pre-orders

I want to know for previous iphone release pre-orders if it's possible to use the same credit card number but with a different name (authorized user).
I'm planning to buy 4 iphones using one credit card if possible but based on previous pre-orders on limit 2 per credit card, would the above method work? Or apple just tracks the credit card number regardless of the name on the credit card?

I imagine its done by credit card number or apple ID. I take it your authorised users don't have different card numbers? I know for a fact authorised users on my American Express account definitely have a different card number.

That's correct. The authorized user has the same card number.

I have several apple IDs.
