Credit Card info for iTunes Account ??

Do you absolutely have to give your Credit Card info
to get an iTunes Account ?

I don't plan on buying anything from the iTunes Store,
do i still have to give out my credit card info ??

That's what I do. I suppose it would be a little inconvenient if I purchased a lot of stuff but I don't. I just buy a $50 gift card once in a while. Limits any risk.
