I decided to get an iMac today. I'm going with the 1gif of RAM and 250GB hard drive added onto the base iMac model. Any last minute tips on what to do out of the box, what to download, what to install, and must have acessories, etc.?\

Do you think this will be adequate enough to properly run bootcamp and use photoshop smoothly, along with properly recording music usin OS X?

Some cool programs?

I always loves me some
Coverflow
Google Sketchup
Google Earth
Delicious Library
and i love the HANDBRAKE on my car.

If you are only getting 1GB of RAM, be sure to get it installed as one stick, leaving you the ability to easily upgrade to 2GB in the future.

If you plan to run Windows under Parallels, all the while running other Mac apps, get it as 2GB now.

After reading up on Parallels and BootCamp, BootCamp seems to run Photoshop more smoothly. So I'm hoping the 1gig will be enough. I just hope they don't release a completely new iMac at the conference, I won't feel bad if they just stick a new processor in the thing.

Google sketchup and earth are not universal, so you should notice slowing and lagging in those apps. just fyi.

Well I'm impatient and bought a new iMac 20 inch today, I can't wait for it to come. I got 5 day ground shipping, when do you think I'll get my order? I live in NJ.
