Crucial External Drive SSD For Mac

Looking to get some extra storage for an M4 Macbook. Can anyone explain to me why the Crucial X9 Pro 1TB External SSD is $20.00 more than the Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 1TB External SSD? Is there any functional difference between these two drives other then the formatting? Thanks.

They are the same drive, but the cheaper one is formatted for Windows and the Mac drive is formatted for Mac. They think you'll pay more because you're a Mac user. Just buy the cheaper one and reformat it yourself using Disk Utility.

I'm guessing the question was phrased backwards - "why the Crucial X9 Pro 1TB External SSD is $20.00 more than the Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 1TB External SSD" because from the photos, the standard is $20 less than the Mac. In which case @chabig has the answer, a "Mac Tax" that you can avoid with 30 seconds in Disk Utility.
