Just tried replacing an older Kingston 128gb SSD with a new Crucial m4 128gb ssd in my 2011 Macbook Pro and upon booting up I get several beeps. I read where 3 beeps indicate a memory problem...but when I put the old Kingston 128gb SSD back it boots just fine...so it's not memory...it's something with the new SSD...I was hoping to get a speed increase with the new Crucial. Anyone else run into something like this? Yes, I was trying to boot off a MacOSX DVD to run disk utility to format the drive..but I encounter the beeping immediately while booting up. Help?

Do you have a external hd enclosure you can put your SSD in to test to see if you have a lemon drive?

Great idea about the external drive. Appreciate it...just wondering if anyone else had this kind of behavior from the drive. Thanks.

Same issue. Did you find a fix? Mine is a 2011 17" unibody with a 512MB M4. I was able to upgrade from firmware 0001 to 0009 from a CD, but can't get to disk utility to do anything else.
