Anyone have any experiences with the 512gb versions of this ssd? Seems like the slickdeals link you posted some people have been reporting issues with the 512gb version.

I've been using the 512GB in a 2009 MBP since it first came out just over a year ago with zero issues. Back then, it cost a lot more than that. I just moved it into a new SATA 3 MBP and it's even faster, so very pleased with it.

have 2 friends with these as the primary drives in MBPs from 2010 and 2011, and they haven't ever had a problem.

Do these types of deals go away? I am on vacation for a couple more weeks but I would love to buy an 512 at this price.

I've had mine for 1 1/2 weeks. Overpaid at $399.

Maybe a new model is coming out since there are these price drops? :(

I read somewhere the M5 is coming out soon.

But these drives are still good.

I have a 256GB Samsung that I got for $279 a while ago. If I was buying today, I would definitely get this drive instead due to space. I'm already running out of space and have to move stuff off the drive all the time.

I installed the 512 on my new 2012 MBP, no issues whatsoever! It shipped w/firmware 0309, I installed firmware 000F no issues. Lightning fast!

Only issue is I paid $399 and you can get it cheaper! :)

I was waiting for 1 TB SSD's to be affordable. But I guess I'll just go for a 512 gb SSD with these prices :D

Anybody know if buying one of these US version SSD's will work on a UK macbook as the price difference is huge

Yes, but by the time you have added shipping and VAT (which you will almost certainly pay if you mail order) the price is similar, and you will have problems returning it if it goes wrong.

I was told SSD's have a limited number of reads and writes. Can someone explain this? It makes me not want to buy an SSD.

Google is your friend on something like this. There are plenty of articles around that go in-depth with SSD technology.

Looks like the price can be made to $337.99 shipped with buy.com

I want to get this drive pretty bad but the bad reviews has me second guessing.
Has anyone installed one of these in a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010, MacBookPro7,1 to be specific..?

I'm interested in these bad reviews, I have only heard good things about the m4. Its firmware can be updated, its fast (not faster than samsung but oh well) and reliable. Plus at these prices its hard to turn down.

I was debating this drive or the 830 256GB -- decided to go with the Samsung drive for $250 on Amazon... still happy about the decision.
Samsung's reliability is on par with Intel.
(and, I read too many negative reviews for the M4)

That is exactly the same SSD I was looking into prior to this one.
Very undecided..
