ahoi!
I tried to get a Crucial MX500 SSD workin´ in my Power Mac G5 2 GHz, but had no luck.
Strange, because:
List of SSDs that works with Mac Os 9
Crucial MX500 (tested by torvan)
os x ???
So first i put it in the lower bay, negativ.

PPC SSD BLUES
Wise ppc men say
always put it in the lower bay
---
In the upper bay, i heard the start up sound, but then the screen
remained grey...
Then i put it in a HD enclosure (Pleiades Firewire 800), negativ.
Just for fun,and because i wondered if it would work anyway,
i plugged it in my Freecom Quattro Dockin´Station, and yes,
there it was...ready to use.
But that´s not the way i wanted it...
Any idea ???
??? Mystical chip-set mystery ???

I'm pretty sure with how often SSD manufacturers do sneaky things like swap drive controllers after introduction there probably is some MX500 that works. But I doubt too many manufacturers that care about the use case of running an SSD on a 25 year old OS on a machine that was never originally running on it in the first place.

Fanx Amethyst1,
i will post it in your thread, as soon as testing is over.
Right now i got a Crucial BX500 (480 GB) successfully running
in the lower bay.

Yes, the Crucial MX and the Crucial BX have the same Chiptyp: 3D-NAND TLC,
but different controllers...
Until then, we sing the second verse of the PPC SSD BLUES:
I put it in a bay,
close my eyes
begin to pray...
;-)
Have a nice day !

Yeah, those G5s must have a very "bespoke" implementation of SATA, because some SSDs worked like a charm and others... not at all. I had similar results with a PNY SSD years back. A mystery.

ahoi! Amethyst1, Nathan...
SSD Test is over, so far.
...expensive "hobby".

Not added the results to:

`cause i don´t know how ?!
Anyway :
Crucial BX500 - ok- Lower Bay
Crucial MX500 - no way

A mystery.

p.s.
