Available in US on 11/21 for $99.99.
I'm tempted to get one of these. Haven't had a Nintendo handheld since the Gameboy Pocket.
Just can't decide which color looks best, kinda leaning towards the blue one!
Anybody else thinking of picking one up?
I'd consider picking one up, but those New 3DS's are hopefully going to be coming to the US next year. Maybe then Pokemon will run a little smoother during battles.
I'm very much into rare and modded Gameboys, but there's something about these that I don't want. I think it's because it's a 2DS, and with the New 3DS around the corner too... but I do hope it starts a new trend of having transparent handhelds again.
I'll probably regret it down the line when they start going for crazy money second hand!
(edit: I wonder if the sections of the 2DS display (since it's one screen) that are masked have no backlight on them, or even if there's a way of doing that. I wonder if the light from it will flood out into the case?)

Does it bother either of you guys that the the wireless light shines so brightly through the front in the pictures? Hopefully it's just exaggerated, but wouldn't that get annoying when playing games in anything but bright light? I know the flashing from it on the current 3DS is pretty noticeable, and couldn't imagine the effect if it was facing you.
I've had to put black tape over my DSi lights so that just a tiny bit pokes out. Was considering going in and putting in some darkening film on the inside but I don't want to risk breaking anything. Tape's your best friend if it's too bright! On my original Gameboys I've opened them up and sanded down the LED to make it less bright.Does it bother either of you guys that the the wireless light shines so brightly through the front in the pictures? Also, did the 2DS get the most recent updates? The one that allows themes and changed the home menu around a little bit?
Did you mod the color yourself? I know you had put that charizard on the sp, but I've only seen the backlit colors like twice before. I never got a chance to hold or purchase a micro either, which saddens me. Good question about the 2DS display, I'd be interested to know as well, for no reason in particular.
The 2DS is just a 3DS so there's no reason why themes won't work.
Yeah they're all my own work. The GBC was a rare(ish) Japanese Crystal GBC with a backlight from my broken GBA SP. Micro's are really neat. They're just so simple and little, and it's great playing epic RPGs on them for some reason. Got 3 so far, wouldn't mind a Black one (only released in US) but I've got enough for now!
The 2DS is smaller than I thought but not too small. Comfortable to hold.
No games for it yet, those should be here Tuesday or so. I took advantage of the buy one get one 50% off sale on 3DS games BestBuy.com was doing last week and ordered Zelda OoT 3D and Pokemon Y![]()
Glad to hear you went and bought yourself one, and that you enjoy holding the thing. Will you be purchasing one of the Ruby/Sapphire remakes?
And did you see that they're remaking/remastering/rereleasing Majora's Mask?!?
Funny you should say that, just today I saw a preview of a Pikachu theme advertised on a 2DS! Maybe they've noticed too and started to show it off? That's what I was figuring. Nintendo just needs to update their marketing pictures to show that off a little bit more.
They're a lot cheaper (at least here) than when they launched. Just got to be sure it's a good quality one. I bought a Pink one for only £30 that was in near mint condition. It's just about being patient enough to wait for a good deal. I got my Micro for half of what they usually go for (£300 here). That's really cool. I doubt I'll ever actually try to track down a Micro. I'd imagine that people that do sell them are asking for more than they're worth since they're older systems and weren't overly popular IIRC.
They are but they can be fixed! If you're interested in it there's a method called "Biverting". The display is run through a chip that inverts the screen. A backlight and polarising film is installed on the display, that inverts it again. The result is a really sharp screen with much better contrast, it makes it very playable!Yes, probably eventually. I'll need to get through Y first. Haven't played Pokemon in ages. Not since Red, Blue, and Yellow. I got out my Gameboy Pocket the other day and fired up Red. Brings back memories but wow the screen on the old Gameboys was horrible. lol
Same. Never played it. Always wanted to. Can't wait!Yep, I'm excited about that. I never had a N64 back in the day so I never got to play Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Now I'll finally be able to play them and see what the fuss is all about!
