Hey all,

How comfortably would CS5 run the new 2.4GHz MBP? i know i'd be much better off going with the Hi-Res 15" model, but unfortunatly my funds do not stretch that far, or would an older 15" refurb be a better option?

Thanks

That depends on what you would do with PS. A 6MP JPEG will be easier to handle than a 18MP RAW photo for example.

But other than that, unless you make money with PS and need valuable seconds, the 13" MBP is more than fine to handle PS.

Thanks for that, Would i notice much difference in the screen or performance coming from a 20", 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI 2400 iMac? i would like the portability, and i guess i can always hook up a display when at home.

You may, less screen real estate and a shared GPU will give you less performance than that iMac.
But the more RAM may make up for it a little bit.

I have the Unibody MacBook (Alu) with a 2,4GHz, 4GB RAM and 9400M. It runs Photoshop CS4 like it's TextEdit for simpler tasks (I worked on a few 2560x1600 designs, no issues). With very heavy work, it might get a bit sluggish, but you'll problaby be fine. :)

It can get benefit like performance boost from 320M gpu, in comparance to 9400m it might be a lot better.
