My Cube decided to start acting up. She's running 10.5 and has been trouble-free for years. Today, it woke from sleep to a black window and beachball. I rebooted and it came back up the same way. A flash of blue screen, then black screen and cursor. Booting into safe mode works fine, but rebooting repeats the bug. I tried single user mode and rm'ed LoginWindow.plist but that hasn't worked either.
Anything else i can try?

This may be worth a shot.

Boot into Safe Mode again and depending on your video card (NVIDIA or ATI) remove the video driver kexts from the Extensions folder . These are going to be in either the Library or System>Library folder at the root of the HD.

Try restarting normally and see if you can login like normal.

When the GPU died in my 12” powerbook, this is the exact behavior it exhibited. Do you happen to
have another video card to stick in there and see if the behavior continues?

The card in question is a Geforce 2 MX. I do have a radeon but i need to get a little fan for it. i also have a flashed gfx5200 around here, but i'd need a dvi screen :-x
Thanks to both of you for the leads...
