Well got my cube today
450mhz 768mb 80gb dvd ati rage pro and tiger 10.4
upgraded it to 450mhz 1gb 80gb gefroce 3 64mb and tiger 10.4

i was running stable for 4 hrs + and then when I was doing system updated it fell asleep on me (while i was clicking around) so i woke it up and then it shut off and turned back on. So I shut it off and it is still off.

What do you think caused this (I think it might be getting too hot, because when I smell the vent on top is has that burning smell)

Can anyone help me solver this problem??
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

That does sound like it had overheated. Do you have anything blocking the top or bottom vents? I saw that you upgraded your graphics card, that might be causing the excess heat. You might want to get a fan for it, at least a little USB one that sits on the top.

thanks for the tips
i know the gefroce 3 is one of the hotter running video cards for g4 so is probally even worse in a cube
do you suguest any internal fans?

Did it completely die, or can you start it up again and it works? Why not just put the original graphics card back in for the time being.

itasor it still works and boots up

my DC/DC board was loose so that may have been the problem
but now i still need to find a better cooling solution

so does anyone know where in my cube a internal fan could go?
and what fan(s) would you reccomend.

I am trying to get this think stable before I buy a dual 1.2ghz for it.
