Anyone checked out the custom level packs for Cube Runner yet?

A whole list of them can be found here, but there is no way to tell which levels are good or not, or which ones work.

I read about it on Touch Arcade (Thanks arn!)

I downloaded the 'SpeedScraper' level that is displayed in the article, but when I select it, the game just crashes, and I'm back at my Homescreen. EDIT: SpeedScraper now works on my iPhone, either because I deleted the App and re-downloaded it, or because I typed the url exactly as it appears on the list (this time I typed the caps that are in the url instead of all lower case).

Anyone try any that work?

Here is a list of levels that work. I will add them as others post them here or as I try them (or until I get bored listing them:D):

•BeggarsCanyon - http://cuberun.org/BeggarsCanyon.txt
•Catopillar - http://cuberun.org/Catopillar.gz
•DrivingTest - http://cuberun.org/DrivingTest.txt
•SpeedScraper - http://cuberun.org/SpeedScraper.txt

Just downloaded "beggars canyon" to test.

What a convoluted way to install DLC. At least its free! But I don't see why it can't be as great as the track downloads in Tap Tap Revenge. Perhaps a future update will have this.

The problem is that I don't have the infrastructure available to host all third party level packs, hence why I allow you to download from anywhere and don't restrict you to my content.

I agree that the initial download box isn't the best and I've made a number of improvements which will be up in the next version (when I'm able to upload a new version!).

Very cool. I like that you don't restrict it. My only worry is that someone will post a pack that will do bad things to my iPhone. Is that even possible?

Looking forward to seeing what you have in mind.

Are there any packs that really stand out for you? Any you really like?

Ditto this question. I downloaded a couple, and they were lame. If anyone can post URLs of really good packs here in this thread, that would be fantastic!

I hope this isn't possible. Im doing a reasonable amount of verification on the levels as they get downloaded and if they don't match the level spec they get rejected.

Plus as the application is Sandboxed (for this very reason) I would expect any possible damage to be extremely limited to the individual application - if not thn there is no point to the sandboxing restrictions we devs are placed under.

In addition, the user does have some responsibilty not to blindly download things from places they don't trust. In the same way you wouldn't put your credit card details in on a random site (at least I would hope you wouldn't). There are a few community sites available with layouts to download from (and reviewed). If in doubt - stick to them.

I would assume that these are sites that you would consider trustworthy. Can you list them for us? Thanks.

I don't know if your doing anymore updates but it would be nice if the last URL you typed in was saved, just a small thing but it gets a little annoying re-typing the whole address each time you want to try a level.

It saves on mine. I only have to enter it once. Maybe delete and redownload the App and try again?

I've done a ton of updates:

URL entry does saves the last URL, auto-complete turned off and can clear url text.
Menu interface rewritten
Calibration system rewritten
Level validation improved
Sound infrastructure in place - just sorting out music and effects
Developer mode added (for testing levels)
lots of small bug fixes

Alas I can't upload anything until Apple reject the current submission (2 weeks now its been under review!)

Nice, looking forward to seeing these implemented. Thanks for the inside info.

Well, I've just managed to re-submit 1.1 of Cube Runner. It has all the above changes included. So its just going through Apples review process again.

Hey guys,
thanks for the kind words on CubeRun.org. Andy has been extremely supportive as we develop the biggest level repository I'm aware of.

There are a bunch of good levels up there and a bunch of not so good ones, so we're about halfway through developing a review interface for folks to rate the levels in the big list.

Any levels created through the level generator are checked for validity and safety, and we're busy building in additional checks as we can.

Have fun running. :)

For me, I've tried Beggar's Canyon, Catopillar, and SpeedScraper and they all work on my iTouch.

EDIT: I just downloaded DrivingTest and it works great.

Previously when I was downloading level packs I just used the direct URLs but I wanted to download more so I clicked on the link cuberun.org/gz0list.php. Every time I click on it my iTouch freezes up and I have to reset it. Any tips? If it isn't too much trouble then could someone please send me some direct URLs for some of the level packs? Thanks

No Worky

The site that has all the lvls is just gone! Now it is just like a... an ADD site!:(

Ik... I think Its all been destroyed or taken down.... I've been trying to find more level packs and stuff because I remembered this game from years ago but unfortunately, it now seems to be old news...:(

Does anyone know why cuberunner isn't letting people download level packs? I keep getting an error when I try to download level packs
