CUPS on OS X Not Getting PPD Automatically

I can't get OS X to automatically download the PPD file from my print server for any given printer. It works fine on Linux, but OS X doesn't seem to verify the queue address or anything.

Thought the whole point in CUPS was to avoid manually configuring printers!
