let say i want to back up should be " clone " all the settings , programs , folders how should i go about it?

is it use Time machines connect to an external drive? once done I just connect the external drive to a new iMAC
from where to activate to clone all the settings , programs , folders to the new iMac?

so once done, I should have the same settings, and got all my folders, even bookmarks from my chrome browser on the new imac?
Hope you guys know what I mean thanks.

because i read people back out is like mostly programs , photos, never mention about settings and all those bookmarks you have save

Your answer is in reply 2 above.
CCC or SD.

Both are free to download and use for 30 days.
I suggest you try BOTH of them, then pick the one you like best.

Nothing wrong with the apps others mentioned, but Time Machine will do the same thing and is free.

Just backup to a disk using Time Machine, then if you get a new Mac, during the setup process tell it you want to import old data and point it to the Time Machine disk as the source.

So basically " if " one day I want back up touch wood my present iMac down and I need to get new one , so use time machine to backup and transfer to the new mac it will like " clone " means all the settings , bookmarks I have done in the old mac will be the same on the new mac?

Well current my iMac is ok just that i noticed while put on sleep mode , when wake it up got " tick tick sound " than display will turn on. i check around here , some claim is Normal don't worry. So I just wonder.
