Thanks. My teenage daughter's 1st gen finally died and I wanted to buy her a new one as a surprise but I want to make sure I get the latest and greatest. I'm thinking a white one would be nice.

Its probably a good idea to get a white one. It will come with the latest device software pre-installed. I've read a lot of posts about folks having issues upgrading the software on their devices.

Most of them were because of the large amount of people trying to download it all at the same time.
