current situation on unlocking iphone 3g

i bought an unlocked iphone 3 on ebay to use in israel. when i got it i saw that it was jailbroken and wasnt picking up the cellcom network. so i restored it using a complicated method because it was jailbroken. currently cydia is still on the phone. my question is
1. is it still jailbroken?
2. how do i unlock it to get it working with cellcom?

i am running version 4.2.1 and modem firmware 06.15.00

You already have an ipad baseband on your phone. Follow the following link;

You don't need to click on "install Ipad baseband" since it already on yours. after jailbreak, just install ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock your phone.

The link I post is for you to jailbreak the phone so Cydia icon is added to your phone.

The link you post is to unlock the phone once your phone is jailbreak which is the comment I made below my previous post. Without Cydia on your phone, you can't unlock the phone with ultrasn0w.

you have 3g phone and the latest firmware is 4.2.1. So, yours is the latest already.

Highest an iPhone 3G can go is 4.2.1
It's been abandoned since due to outdated and slow hardware.

What if the OP wants to get off the 06.15.00 baseband, for instance if his GPS isn't working? Has anyone figured out a way to downgrade 06.15.00 or is it still permanent (for now)?

No, it is permanent. You can't get rid of this 06.15 baseband once you install it onto your phone.

You can open up the phone, remove the current baseband, then resolder a new baseband chip to the phone.
