Current state of FF 800 and Intel Mac Pros?

Can you guys let me know what is the current state of this card and the mac pro (nelahem)?
I have an AIO and I need more inputs and preamps. Im afraid that going from PCIe solution to FF I will need to increase buffer size and latency.
