Good morning to all my fellow macrumors people. I am currently standing in line at the lincoln road apple store location in miami beach, fl. It is not 4:15 EST and there is about 50 people in line. I am # 9 in line. Let's see how it goes..

How's the scalper situation? If you can't get an iPad as an Apple fan today, this is just getting out of hand.

I am guessing you guys are at stores that are outside? It can be worth waiting outside a mall since it will be a Sprint to the store from the mall entrance.

Yes, this specific Apple store is located outside. Therefore, I came early. Not sure about shopping malls. I had a feeling that even if I wait outside nearest the store some people will find an entrance into the mall before me. Maybe 5-10 minutes before but hey that's a long time when there's a lot of people wanting something so bad.
Sorry for a noon question, but what do you do if you are waiting alone and want to use the bathroom?
Are you sure they'll have them in stock? Most Apple employees I talked to didn't know what they would have until the morning of.

Not too sure. Unfortunately, no one knows as to exact stock. I called yesterday and was hinted that there would be stock today. Usually when they don't have stock at this location they will leave a printed paper on the door the night before when they close that says something to the sort of "we are currently out of all ipad 2 stock for the day of March xx, 2011" As to what do they have specific I am not sure. Whatever it is I am going to take it and use it for 14 days. Hopefully they stock what I want by then with much less line. Then, I would return the one I would purchase today and swap it out for my preferred model. As to the art deco part. It's great. Store is located in the heart of miami, Miami Beach. Currently there is a nice breeze and clear skies.
I normally make small talk and become friends with the person in front and back of me. If I have to make a trip to the restroom I would just tell them I need to use the restroom and will be back. That way you just don't walk away and they think you left for sure. That way when you come back if the rest of the people in line don't recognize for you, the person in front and back can vouch you were there.
I just checked out the Apple Store at Emeryville, CA and there wasn't a line---lining up isn't allowed until 8am. I bet a lot of people will start wandering around by 7-ish.
Just make a deal with the people around you that you will cover for them if they need to leave for a few minutes.
It might help to bring bottles of soda and water with you to hand out to these people before you make the deal.
