Cursor Freezes After Plugging in Device

Hey Folks,
I'm on an April 2011 17" MacBook Pro running 10.8.2.

Recently I noticed that anytime I plug in a device my cursor freezes for up to 10 seconds. Just won't move. By device I mean ipad or iPhone.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
