Cursor not disappearing watching fullscreen movies in iTunes

I just realized today that my cursor won't disappear while watching movies fullscreen in iTunes. I have a 2014 Mac mini and a magic trackpad and I have tried doing nothing after making the movies fullscreen and clicking on the video once once it is playing with no luck. The cursor will disappear for a few seconds and then reappear. My trackpad is on a flat and level surface (my desk). Is this normal? I rarely watch movies in iTunes so maybe I just have not noticed this as a normal behavior.
