Custom Button or Action in Mail?

Sorry, this is a cross-post, but I just realized this was probably the better form for my question:

Is there a way to re-map the function of a button in Mail or create a custom button that executes an action or apple script?

I'm having some IMAP email issues on the server end (they automatically erase my deleted messages after 1 day regardless of my Mail settings). Anyway, I like to keep delete messages longer than that, so I was hoping I could create (or reprogram) a button in Mail so that when I press it, it moves the email to another folder.
