Ok so I had an old GPS car mount lying around and bought a universal dock from Best Buy with the $50 rewards coupon I had. I fused them together and this is what I got, pictured below.
Sorry I could not get a picture with the iPhone in it but it was the only camera I had at the time. It fits perfectly and still allows for the insert to be changed for other i-devices. The side wing things clamp down on the iPhone for ultimate secure fit. No wiggle when driving- even off-road. plays music through stereo without having to plug anything else in - and I have a remote, of course, and it charges the device.
It does slide off the window mount so that I can take it out of the car without losing the window suction.
Does anyone else have a custom mount or dock, I would love to see the ideas!
